BYLAWS of the FILIPINO COMMUNITY OF ANCHORAGE, ALASKA, INC.
(Amended November 24, 2007)

ARTICLE I.               NAME AND PURPOSE

Section 1.

This organization shall be called FILIPINO COMMUNITY OF ANCHORAGE, ALASKA, INCORPORATED, hereinafter referred to as "FCAA."  The organization shall be located in Anchorage, Alaska.

Section 2.

The existence of this organization shall be perpetual.

Section 3 .

The purposes of the FCAA shall be to:
a) promote and perpetuate the Filipino cultural heritage;
b) assist members of the organization who are in need whenever possible;
c) participate in the civic activities of the greater community of Anchorage.

ARTICLE II.               MEMBERSHIPS AND DUES

Section 1.

Memberships in the FCAA shall consist of:

a) General Members:  Members who are 18 years of age or older, Filipino birth or ancestry, and pay membership dues of Fifteen Dollars ($15.00 annually.  General Members can hold office, serve on committees, make motions, vote, and participate in the social, cultural, and business affairs of the FCAA.

b) Senior Members:  Members who are 62 years of age or older, Filipino by birth or ancestry, and pay membership dues of Ten Dollars ($10.00) annually. Senior Members can hold office, serve on committees, make motions, vote, and participate in the social, cultural, and business affairs of the FCAA.

c) Junior Members:  Members who are under 18 years of age and are Filipino by birth or ancestry.  Junior Members do not pay dues, hold office, make motions, or vote, but can participate in the discussions and in the social, cultural, and business affairs of the FCAA.

d) Associate Members:  Members who are not Filipino by birth or ancestry, are interested in the FCAA, and pay dues of Fifteen Dollars ($15.00) annually. Associate Members can serve on committees and participate in the discussions and activities of the organization but cannot make motions, vote, or hold elective office in the FCAA.

e) Life Members:  Members who have paid annual membership dues for five (5) consecutive years may choose to become Life Members by paying a one- time, non-refundable payment of Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00).

f) Corporate Members:  Profit or non-profit organizations or corporations who are interested in the FCAA may become Corporate Members by paying membership dues of One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) annually.  Designated representatives of corporate members can serve on committees and participate in the discussions and activities of the organization but cannot make motions, vote, or hold elective office in the FCAA.

Section 2.

Membership Application, Renewal, and Effective Dates:

a) A person wishing to become a member of the FCAA for the first time shall complete a membership application form and submit the form to the Chairperson of the Membership Committee with the applicable annual dues payment.  The Membership Committee shall review the application.  Upon approval and acceptance of the application, the Chairperson of the Membership Committee shall issue a receipt for dues payment.  This receipt shall establish the new member?s acceptance into the FCAA.

b) Members shall renew their membership by paying annual dues to the Chairperson of the Membership Committee on or before 5:00 p.m. on the last Saturday of September of each year. 

c) Memberships for new and renewing members shall be effective on the date dues are received by the Chairperson of the Membership Committee.
